Why are fishing bivvies so much?

Anyone else think bivvy prices have gone completely mental lately?

Some of these new shelters are pushing £1000+ and honestly, you need your head looking at spending that sort of money on what is basically a fancy tent to sit behind three rods in a field.

I get inflation and material costs have gone up, but how on earth are companies justifying these prices now? Years ago a top-end bivvy was £300–£400 and anglers thought that was expensive. Now they’re throwing “limited edition”, “HD fabric”, “aerospace aluminium” and all sorts at us and suddenly people think paying the price of a second-hand car is normal.

At the end of the day it keeps the rain off your head and holds a bedchair. Carp don’t care whether your bivvy cost £200 or £1200.

Feels like the tackle industry knows some anglers will buy absolutely anything as long as a big-name brand logo is stamped on it. Social media has made it worse as well. Everyone wants the latest setup that looks good on Instagram rather than just practical gear that does the job.

And before anyone says “quality costs money” — fair enough, but there’s a difference between quality and taking the absolute piss. Half the time you see anglers terrified to even use the thing properly because they’ve spent a month’s wages on it.

Why are bivvies so expensive now? Is it genuinely material/manufacturing costs or are tackle companies just seeing how far they can push prices before anglers finally say enough is enough?
