Anyone else think the Nash Bushwhacker is one of those bits of kit that’s brilliant and annoying at the same time? ![]()
Don’t get me wrong, for stealth it’s absolutely mega. Being able to lower rigs quietly, especially in the edge or onto tight spots without crashing a lead around, definitely catches you extra fish on pressured waters. I’ve had sessions where it’s made all the difference, especially when the carp are up in the water or sitting in shallow areas where one cast would spook the lot.
But honestly… what a right faff sometimes.
Getting it all set up, extending poles, trying not to tangle everything up, balancing the hopper properly, collapsing it all back down after every move — it can feel like hard work compared to just clipping up and casting. Then if there’s any sort of wind it becomes even more entertaining trying to control the thing without looking like you’re pole vaulting round the lake.
It’s one of those tools where when it works, you absolutely love it. You feel like a genius placing rigs silently under overhanging trees or onto tiny dinner plates at range. But when you’re packing it away in the rain with bits of spod mix falling everywhere, you question why you didn’t just chuck a lead out like a normal person.
Still wouldn’t be without it for certain situations though. Especially on busy lakes where the fish have heard every lead in the county getting cracked out at them.
Anyone else use one regularly or did the novelty wear off after a few sessions?
